Thane Jewellery Store Targeted by Armed Robbers, Staff Member Confronts Attackers

Thane, 14th August 2024: On Wednesday, a jewellery showroom in Thane was targeted by an attempted armed robbery carried out by four unidentified individuals. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the robbers entering the store, brandishing guns, and threatening the staff while trying to steal valuables. The footage reveals the bravery of a staff member who, armed with a rod, confronted the robbers. Despite their attempts to escape, the robbers were seen pointing their guns at him as they left the shop.

Reports indicate that shots were fired during the robbery, but there have been no confirmed reports of injuries. Authorities have arrested one suspect and are actively searching for the remaining individuals involved.

In a separate robbery-related incident in Thane, a 22-year-old woman was injured while trying to prevent a thief from escaping with her belongings valued at Rs 31,500. The robbery took place around 3:30 am on Tuesday in Kisan Nagar, Wagle Estate area. The thief entered her first-floor apartment through a gap in a nearby window, stole a gold ring and ‘mangalsutra’, and attempted to flee. The woman chased the thief but was injured when he threw a knife at her during the pursuit. She reported the attack to the Srinagar police.

An FIR has been filed against the unidentified robber under sections 309(6) (causing hurt during an attempt to commit robbery) and 333 (house trespass with preparation to cause hurt or wrongful restraint) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police are currently seeking the perpetrator.
