Thane: Kalyan-Taloja Metro Progress: MMRDA Launches Crucial INR 1,877.88 Crores Tender

Thane, 1st November 2023: The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced a significant tender of INR 1,877.88 crores for the construction of the Kalyan-Taloja Metro 12 route. This marks a crucial phase in the metro line’s development, connecting Thane city directly with the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro route number 5. The project aims to transform intra-city transport by establishing direct connections between Kalyan, Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai.
The Metro 12 project, with an estimated value of around INR 5,865 crores, concluded its survey last year, and the recent tender announcement signifies a significant step forward. The tender includes the construction of the route encompassing 17 stations, Metro 5, and the Metro Carshed. Once the tender process is complete, construction is set to commence shortly, representing a critical milestone in bringing the metro line into service.
Metro No. 4 connects Wadala to Thane, while Metro No. 5 starts from Thane and extends to Kalyan via Bhiwandi. Beyond the Kalyan Agricultural Produce Market Committee station, Metro 12 will commence its route, travelling directly to Taloja. The newly launched Navi Mumbai Metro will also integrate into the Belapur to Pendhar route, establishing vital connections between Kalyan, Dombivli, Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
The Metro 12 route spans a total length of 20.75 km on an elevated track, encompassing 17 stations along the way. These stations include Kalyan Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Ganesh Nagar, Pisavli Village, Golavali, Dombivli MIDC, Sagaon, Sonar Pada, Manpada, Hedutane, Kolegaon, Nilje Gaon, Vadvali, Bale, Waklan, Turbhe, Pisarve, and Taloja.
