Thane: Toddler Dies After Falling into Open Pit in Kalyan, Criminal Case Filed
Thane, 8th November 2024: A toddler tragically lost his life after falling into an open pit on a plot in Kalyan, Thane district, according to police reports on Friday. Based on a complaint filed by the child’s father, authorities have filed a criminal case against two individuals who own the land in the Kalyan Phata area.
The incident occurred on November 4, when the toddler, who was nearly three years old, fell into the pit and sustained serious injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the child passed away the following day. The father, who lives in a building close to the site, had previously requested the plot’s owners—Ravi Rasal and Abhimanyu Bhoir—to cover the pit, but they had not followed through, the police said.
An FIR has been filed against the two under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 106(1) for causing death by negligence and 3(5) for a criminal act committed by multiple persons with a common intention.
