Thane: Woman Traffic Constable Injured as Two-Wheeler Rider Resists Stop in Dombivli

Dombivli, 13th December 2023: In an alarming incident in the Thakurli Railway Station area of Dombivli, a woman traffic constable faced injury on Tuesday morning while attempting to stop a speeding two-wheeler. The rider, in an attempt to evade the traffic stop, jerked the constable’s hand and continued forward, running over her leg in the process.
The victim, identified as Renuka Rathore, a constable from the Dombivli Traffic Branch, was engaged in traffic planning on the Hanuman Mandir Road. In the course of her duty, she signalled a speeding two-wheeler to stop as it approached from Kalyan. Despite her instructions, the rider ignored the constable and accelerated the bike, prompting Rathore to intervene.
Rathore managed to stop the two-wheeler by holding onto the rear side of the bike. The situation attracted the attention of pedestrians and vendors in the vicinity. Unfortunately, in the attempt to resist the stop, the rider ran over the constable’s leg, causing injury.
Promptly responding to the incident, Rathore informed her superiors, leading to penal action against the defiant bike rider. The individual was subsequently released from the scene after facing consequences for the resistance against the traffic constable.
