Ticket-Checking Staff Rescue 14-Year-Old Girl at Nagpur Railway Station
Nagpur, 19th August 2026: A 14-year-old girl was rescued at Nagpur Railway Station after ticket-checking staff noticed her under suspicious circumstances and alerted the Child Helpline.
Chief Ticket Inspector Mamta Rao was performing ticket-checking duties near the escalator gate of the Foot Over Bridge on Platform No. 1 when she noticed the minor girl. During verification, the girl’s identity and age were established. She was found to be a resident of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh.
During the inquiry, the girl initially told the staff that her parents had died. As the circumstances required further verification, ticket-checking staff contacted family members to confirm the information. The inquiry subsequently established that her parents were alive.
After confirming the girl was a minor, Rao contacted the Child Helpline. With the assistance of Child Helpline representatives, the girl was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further necessary action and arrangements for her safe return to her family.
The incident took place during routine ticket-checking at the station.
