Two Brothers Booked for Abetment to Suicide of a Teenager in Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai, 6th May 2024: In Navi Mumbai, authorities have taken action in the case of an 18-year-old girl from Koparkhairane who tragically took her own life five months ago, by booking two brothers, relatives of the deceased’s neighbour, for abetment to suicide. The individuals in question are identified as Yash Jadhav, 22, and Harsh, 20, residents of Ulhasnagar.
The young woman, a recent class 12th graduate, was discovered deceased on December 1, 2023, having hung herself at her residence.
Initially hesitant to involve law enforcement, the parents of the deceased eventually filed a complaint after uncovering disturbing Instagram conversations between their daughter and one of the accused siblings. Additionally, they learned that Yash had engaged in a confrontation with the teen earlier in the day, which preceded her tragic decision.
Evidence from Instagram Chats
Subsequently, the deceased’s elder brother discovered screenshots of Instagram chats between his sister and Harsh on her laptop. These exchanges revealed that Harsh had allegedly attempted to coerce the young woman into sexual activity and threatened to distribute compromising videos if she refused. The victim consistently rebuffed his advances, according to the complaint.
A police officer commented, “The content of the chats has led the family to suspect a connection between the suicide and these individuals.” Further details regarding the videos and the nature of the altercation will likely emerge following the arrest of the accused, which is anticipated to occur imminently.
