Wardha: Six Killed, One Critically Injured in Samruddhi Expressway Truck-Car Collision Near Virul Interchange
Wardha, 20th July 2026: Six people were killed, and one person sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident on the Samruddhi Expressway near the Virul Interchange under the jurisdiction of Pulgaon Police in Wardha district early on Monday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 5.30 am when an Eicher truck carrying paper rolls rammed into a car travelling towards Nagpur from behind. The impact of the collision was severe, killing all five occupants of the car, including its driver, on the spot. The truck driver also succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll to six.
The truck’s cleaner sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Upon receiving information about the accident, teams from the Pulgaon Police and Highway Police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The authorities worked to extricate the victims from the mangled vehicles and clear the accident site while ensuring that traffic movement on the Samruddhi Expressway remained largely unaffected.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Pulgaon Rural Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The identities of the victims had not been officially released at the time of filing this report.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Further details regarding the victims and the circumstances leading to the collision are awaited.
