Pune, 05 Mar 2024: In a thrilling match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured their third victory by defeating the UP Warriors. Despite a brilliant innings by Captain Alyssa Healy, UPW fell short, unable to chase down RCB’s imposing total of 198 runs.

RCB’s innings was powered by an exceptional display of batting prowess from captain Smriti Mandhana, who notched up an impressive 80 runs, supported by Alyssa Perry’s unbeaten 58 runs. The duo’s partnership proved to be the cornerstone of RCB’s formidable total.

Chasing the challenging target, UP Warriors made a promising start with Captain Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire forging a solid opening partnership of 47 runs. However, the departure of Navgire after scoring 18 runs halted their momentum. Despite Healy’s valiant efforts, which saw her register her first half-century in the tournament, UPW struggled to maintain the required run rate.

Throughout the chase, UPW’s batting lineup failed to capitalize on the good start provided by Healy and Navgire. Chameera Atapattu and Grace Harris couldn’t make significant contributions with the bat, while Shweta Sehrawat’s performance also fell short of expectations.

In the end, despite Healy’s heroic innings, UP Warriors managed to muster only 175 runs, falling short of the target by 23 runs. RCB’s clinical performance with both bat and ball secured them a well-deserved victory, further solidifying their position in the WPL 2024 standings.
