900-Bed Hospital To Be Constructed In Thane; Maharashtra Government Sanctions Rs 527 Crores

Mumbai, 21st August 2022: A new 900-bed fully equipped hospital will be constructed on the site of Vitthal Sayanna General Hospital (Civil Hospital) in Thane for which the Maharashtra state government has approved the demolition of 18 old buildings here. The various buildings were built between 1936 and 2015.

 

 

 

On 22 September 2021, it was decided to upgrade the existing 326-bed hospital site in Thane to a 500-bed district hospital, including a 200-bed women’s and children’s hospital, and a 200-bed referral service hospital (super speciality). It has been revised and has been decided to change and construct a 900 bedded district hospital into having a referral service hospital, nurse training centre, and hostel building. The revised expenditure of Rs.527 crores 41 lakhs 15 thousand and 48 have been approved for the same.

 

 

 

The health department sent a proposal to the state government on 28 July 2022, for the approval to demolish the buildings of the old hospital for the construction of the new hospital. It has been approved by the state government and accordingly, 18 buildings concerning the hospital on the site of the district hospital will be demolished.
