Major Drug Bust in Bandra: Navi Mumbai Crime Branch Apprehends Man with 61 Kilograms of Marijuana

Navi Mumbai, 8th March 2024: The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch Anti Narcotic Cell apprehended a 43-year-old man from Bandra, Mohammed Wasim Mohammed Shafiq Qureshi, with possession of approximately 61 kilograms and 200 grams of marijuana valued at Rs 12.24 lakh. The arrest took place in Bharat Nagar, Bandra East. Authorities are actively investigating the source of the marijuana and the intended recipients for distribution.
The seized four-wheeler used for drug supply has also been confiscated. Neeraj Chaudhary, senior police inspector of the Anti Narcotic Cell, Navi Mumbai Crime Branch, and his team conducted the arrest, with the case registered at Panvel police station under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act. The police are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug supply chain.
Simultaneously, the Mumbai Police’s crime branch detained a 41-year-old individual, Dinesh Kadam, in suburban Borivali for allegedly possessing two country-made pistols and six live cartridges. The police intercepted Kadam during a delivery attempt. An ongoing investigation seeks to uncover links between illegal firearm suppliers and recipients, with suspicions of additional individuals participating in the weapon-supplying racket. A case has been filed under the Arms Act.
In a separate incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 45-year-old man near Mumbai Central Railway Station with a country-made revolver and live cartridges on February 28. Unit 3 of the Mumbai Crime Branch conducted the operation, emphasizing the authorities’ commitment to addressing and curbing illegal firearm activities in the city.
