Pune: PCMC Transitions to Paperless Administration: Commissioner Shekhar Singh Unveils ‘GSI Enabled ERP’ System

Pimpri Chinchwad, 15th March 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is transitioning towards a paperless administration, marking a significant stride in modernization. PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh unveiled the ‘GSI Enabled ERP’ system, ushering in a new era where the operations of all 35 departments will be conducted online. This move promises heightened transparency while alleviating the workload of officials and staff.

Processes such as marriage registration, theatre and library bookings, dog licensing through the veterinary department, and submitting Right to Information (RTI) applications, among others, are now seamlessly paperless within the PCMC regional office. Currently, nine departments have made the transition, with the remainder slated to follow suit. The ‘GSI Enabled ERP system facilitates the digitization of civil amenities, security protocols, library services, field operations, healthcare provisions, warehouse management, and various other administrative functions. This digital transformation ensures that departmental information is readily accessible to both officials and staff members, streamlining operations and enhancing convenience.

With this paperless approach, citizens can now conveniently obtain marriage registration certificates from the comfort of their homes. Field offices will allocate time slots post-document submission, with notifications sent via messages, emails, and fingerprinting. Document verification processes are also digitized, simplifying tasks such as marriage registration, corrections, and institutional registrations. Additionally, procedures related to pet vaccinations, licensing, renewals, cremation permissions, and adoption processes are set to be streamlined.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized that the introduction of the “GIS Enabled ERP” system aims to enhance administrative efficiency across all PCMC departments, providing citizens with accessible online services. This initiative underscores the commitment to transparent governance and citizen engagement while facilitating informed decision-making for officials and expediting work processes.
