Navi Mumbai: Police Find Body of Missing Sumit Jain in Raigad District; Search Continues for Aamir Khanzada

Navi Mumbai, 23rd August 2024: One of the two men who went missing recently has been discovered deceased along the Pen-Khopoli State Highway. The body was found in the bushes by the roadside on Friday afternoon, as reported by the Gagode village police Patil. The deceased has been identified as Sumit Jain (35), a real estate agent who disappeared along with Aamir Khanzada (40) from Nerul on the night of August 21.
Khanzada, a resident of Sector 27, and Jain, from Sector 4 in Nerul, had been business partners in real estate for the past three years. According to police sources, the pair had been leaving their homes daily for meetings with clients and returning late at night.
On Wednesday, they left home around 11 pm but did not return even by 1 am, prompting their families to search for them. Khanzada’s brother, who was in Pune, travelled to Nerul on Thursday morning upon learning of their disappearance. Using the GPS of Khanzada’s car, which had been recharged, he traced the vehicle to Khalapur but found no sign of the missing men. This led to the filing of a missing persons report.
The police reported that neither Jain nor Khanzada had any prior legal issues or complaints of threats. Khanzada, originally from Murud in Raigad, frequently visited his parents in Nerul.
Since Thursday night, a total of ten teams, including those from the Navi Mumbai crime branch and local police, have been investigating the case. They discovered the abandoned car with bullet marks and bloodstains. While Jain’s body has been found, Khanzada remains missing. One team is focusing on analyzing CCTV footage and tracking the car’s journey from the Food Mall at Khalapur on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, where the vehicle was recovered.
The disappearance occurred within the Nerul jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai police, while the abandoned car was located under Khopoli, Raigad police jurisdiction. Jain’s body was found within the Pen, Raigad police jurisdiction.
