Navi Mumbai Metro Fare Reduction: New Rates Starting at Rs. 10 from 7th September

Navi Mumbai, 5th September 2024: Commuters heading to Kharghar and Taloja have good news as the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced a reduction of up to 33% in Metro fares for the Belapur-Pendhar Metro Corridor. The new fare structure will be implemented starting September 7, 2024. The revised rates will range from Rs. 10 as the minimum fare to Rs. 30 as the maximum fare.

Vijay Singhal, CIDCO’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director, emphasized the intent behind the reduction: “By lowering the fares, we aim to ensure that more people can enjoy the fast and comfortable Metro services. The new rates will benefit both short- and long-distance travellers. We urge Navi Mumbai residents to continue supporting the Metro and take full advantage of this fare cut.”

The goal of this fare reduction is to ease the burden on commuters. According to the updated pricing, the fare will be Rs. 10 for distances up to 4 km, Rs. 20 for distances between 4-8 km, and Rs. 30 for journeys exceeding 8 km. Earlier, the fare from Belapur Terminal to Pendhar was Rs. 40, but it has now been lowered to Rs. 30.

Constructed by CIDCO as part of the Navi Mumbai Metro project, the Belapur-Pendhar Metro Corridor No. 1 has greatly enhanced connectivity to key areas such as the CBD, Taloja MIDC, and CIDCO’s housing complexes in Kharghar. Since its launch on November 17, 2023, the Metro line has seen an impressive response from commuters.

Rahul Tawade, a Kharghar resident and lawyer, expressed his appreciation for the fare reduction, describing it as a “Ganpati festival gift.” He further noted that the Rs. 10 fare per trip will result in significant savings for many workers who rely on the Metro to commute to Taloja.
