Doctor Duped of Rs 70 Lakh in Navi Mumbai Flat Fraud
Navi Mumbai, 26th December 2024: A 48-year-old doctor was allegedly defrauded of ₹70 lakh by three individuals, including a woman, who falsely offered to sell him a flat in Navi Mumbai’s Kalamboli area, police reported on Thursday.
The accused showed the doctor a flat in the Roadpali area and claimed they intended to sell it, despite it already being sold to another buyer. They accepted ₹70 lakh from the doctor but failed to transfer possession of the property, an official from Kalamboli police station confirmed.
When the doctor demanded a refund, the accused avoided him. On Tuesday, the doctor filed a complaint with the police, leading to the registration of a case against the trio under charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. An investigation is underway.
