Mumbai: Heavy Rains Trigger Landslides And House Collapse In Andheri: No Fatalities Reported

Andheri, 25th July 2023: Incessant rains continue to wreak havoc in several districts of the state, leading to severe incidents of landslides and property damage. Yesterday, July 24, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway witnessed a case of landslide, adding to the series of unfortunate events in the region.
The situation turned critical in the Khalapur Raigad district when a fresh landslide struck the village of Irshalwadi, causing distress among the local residents. Amidst all these tragedies, a house collapsed in the Andheri East area of Mumbai, adding to the concerns of the authorities in the state.
In the wake of continuous heavy rainfall, the landslide was reported at Rambagh Society in the Chakala area of Andheri East. At approximately 2 in the midnight, a portion of the hill in the Rambagh society collapsed, affecting the nearby chawl and leading to the damage of four to five houses on the first floor of the Rambagh society.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this incident, but five houses suffered significant damage. Promptly responding to the situation, Mumbai Municipal Corporation employees and fire brigade personnel initiated rescue operations to ensure the safe evacuation of the residents.
