Mumbai: Arrested Youth Commits Suicide By Hanging In Borivali Jail; Reason Unknown

Borivali, 29th July 2023: Tragically, on Friday morning, an arrested youth was found dead in Borivali Jail. The young man had been arrested on Wednesday by the Borivali police under various sections, including Section 302, and was ordered to be kept in police custody until July 28. The authorities were surprised when, on Friday morning, 28-year-old Deepak Jadhav, a resident of Borivli West, allegedly hanged himself using a thread tied to the door nail in the third cell of the Borivali General Lockup.
Upon receiving the information of his suicide at approximately 8.10 a.m., the police on duty immediately rushed Jadhav to Shatabdi Hospital. However, despite their efforts, the doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon his arrival.
According to the police, Jadhav was apprehended from Pune and had been kept in the Borivali General Lockup on the night of July 27. The actual reason behind his suicide remains unclear at this moment. However, the Borivali police confirmed that Jadhav was found hanging from a thread near the cell door, which subsequently rendered him unconscious.
Senior police officials from the north region, accompanied by the crime branch team, were promptly present at the scene of the incident. Investigations into the matter have started, and the authorities are looking into the circumstances and the events, such as whether he was under mental pressure, having some depression, etc., that led him to commit suicide.
