Mumbai: Case Of Molestation Reported In IndiGO Flight; Accused Was Held By Assam Police

Mumbai, 11th September 2023: On September 10, a woman reported being molested aboard a flight from Mumbai to Guwahati. As a result of the woman’s accusation, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the accused, and the accused was then subsequently handed over to Assam Police as the plane landed in Guwahati.

IndiGO Flight News spokesperson informed that the incident occurred on September 10 on flight number 6E 5319, in which the woman alleged the accused of sexual assault on her in flight. The officer said that an FIR has been lodged by the complainant with the local police, on the basis of which action has been taken.

The officer further informed that the entire team of IndiGo Flight will provide every possible assistance in the investigation of this mortifying incident. He also promised that Indigo Space Flight would take immediate action as soon as they received the official complaint from the police.

The number of cases of sexual assault and molestation against women in public places is steadily increasing. In the previous two months, at least four incidences of sexual harassment have been recorded on various flights. Taking a stinging note of these incidents, Delhi Women Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to the Delhi Police and the DGCA on this incident, requesting that tighter steps be taken to curb such rising incidences.
