Mumbai: Schizophrenic Woman Falsely Warned Of Terror Threats To Mumbai Police, Investigation Revealed Long History Of Fake Calls

Goregaon, 29th September 2023: In a recent incident that occurred on the eve of Anant Chaturdashi, a woman suffering from schizophrenia called the Mumbai Police, falsely reporting the presence of Pakistani terrorists in the city. The incident unfolded against the backdrop of heightened security measures during the Anant Chaturdashi festival, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.

The fake call was made by the accused woman to the main control room of the Mumbai Police at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The caller claimed that an individual named Mangesh Fisherman had entered the country from Pakistan and was operating as a terrorist. She further provided the address as Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon West. Given the urgency and the potential threat, the Mumbai Police launched a comprehensive investigation, involving the Crime Branch and the Anti-Terrorism Squad. Local police units were also swiftly alerted to the situation.

However, upon closer examination, authorities determined that the information provided by the caller was entirely fabricated. Disturbingly, it was revealed that this woman had a history of making such false claims, having dialled the police control room approximately 110 times since 2022.

Subsequent inquiries uncovered that the woman had been undergoing treatment for schizophrenia under the care of a doctor in Ghatkopar. At this time, no formal case has been registered in connection with the incident, though the circumstances surrounding her repeated false alerts have raised concerns about the necessity of ongoing false threat warnings.
