Palghar: Person Arrested For Allegedly Defrauding Businessman In Mudra Scheme Loan Scam

Dahanu, 27th October 2023: In a recent development, a man suspected of defrauding a local businessman in Dahanu by promising a Mudra scheme loan to purchase silt has been apprehended by police authorities in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. The accused, identified as Arvind Baviskar, has been remanded in police custody until October 27.
The victim, a merchant from Dahanu, was in need of funds to acquire silt for his business. Arvind Baviskar assured him that he could help secure a loan of Rs 27.5 lakh through the Mudra Yojana scheme. Subsequently, the businessman handed over Rs 6.5 lakhs to Baviskar in multiple installments. However, as the promised loan failed to materialise, the merchant began to ask Baviskar about money.
Rather than providing a satisfactory explanation, Baviskar consistently offered different excuses. Realising that he had fallen victim to a scam, the merchant promptly filed a fraud complaint against Arvind Baviskar at the Dahanu police station on August 25, 2023.
The police initiated a formal case in response to the complaint. Sub-Inspectors of Police Bharat Dange and Narayan Patil were assigned to the investigation. Despite their efforts, the accused continued to evade capture. Finally, based on technical information, law enforcement authorities succeeded in arresting Arvind Baviskar on October 19, 2023, in a village located within Jalgaon district.
