Accused throws slipper at judge in Mumbai court, detained for contempt

Mumbai, 3rd April 2023: A 40-year-old man, Javed Subhash Sheikh alias Pradeep Subhash Tayde, has been detained for contempt of court after he threw a slipper at a judge in the Magistrate’s Court in Kurla.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the court adjourned the hearing against Taide. He demanded that all his pending cases be disposed of immediately and that he be released from the court case. When the judge didn’t comply, he picked up a slipper and threw it at the judge.

Taide was recently granted bail after serving five years in jail in a 2016 attempted murder case. He was accused in several other cases, including assault with a sharp weapon, burglary, and encroachment. Taide lost his temper when the hearing was adjourned, and he started touching every object in front of him. He then found a slipper and threw it at the judge.

The incident has been condemned by legal experts, who have called it a serious breach of court decorum. Tayde has been booked under attempted murder charges for the attack on the judge. The police have detained him for contempt of court, and he is likely to face further legal action.
