Mumbai, 20th January 2023: Mumbai Police has made a disclosure after 14 months in the murder of MBBS student Sadichha Sane. Mithu Singh, the main accused in the case, has been arrested and has confessed to his crime. He accepted that he killed the student and threw her body into the sea. The accused has also shown the police the place from where the body of the student was thrown into the sea. At present, efforts are being made to find the body of the student in collaboration with the Mumbai Police and the Indian Navy. The police have also seized the T-shirt of the accused, which he was wearing during the murder.
A crime branch official said that after a case of kidnapping was registered in the matter, the accused was arrested and his interrogation was on. During this, he confessed to the murder. The accused has been booked under IPC sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of the offence or giving false information to screen offender) and 302 (murder).
On 29th November 2021, the third-year MBBS student left her house to write a paper but did not return home. After this, the relatives lodged a report with the police. The crime branch started investigating the matter. During the investigation of the case, the police arrested Mithu Singh as a suspect. A case of kidnapping was first registered on this. When his interrogation started, he stated he was on duty as a lifeguard near the Banda stand.
When Sane was seen there, the accused thought that she had come intending to die by suicide. He approached her and started talking. They spoke from midnight till three in the morning. Then Mithu Singh took a selfie and left from there. But later, the police came to know that Singh had lied and cooked up a story.
The accused confessed that he killed Sane and threw her body into the sea. The crime branch has also arrested two accomplices of the accused. At the same time, the police are still investigating why the accused killed her, as they did not know each other.
