Andhra Pradesh Delegation Reviews Navi Mumbai’s CIDCO Projects for Amaravati Development

Navi Mumbai, 1st August 2024: The Andhra Pradesh government, led by N Chandrababu Naidu, has revitalized plans for the development of Amaravati, its future capital city. In this context, a delegation from Andhra Pradesh recently visited Navi Mumbai to review the projects managed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), which is key to developing the satellite township of Navi Mumbai.
Dr P Narayana, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, along with officials from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), attended a comprehensive presentation at CIDCO’s Belapur headquarters.
“Dr. Narayana’s visit included a tour of various CIDCO project sites to examine their urban development strategies,” CIDCO officials reported following the visit.
The presentation featured several key figures, including Vijay Singhal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO; Shantanu Goel, Joint Managing Director; Suresh Mengde, Chief Vigilance Officer; as well as senior officials from both CIDCO and APCRDA.
The Andhra Pradesh government aims to build a modern, 217 sq km capital city in Amaravati, complete with a robust infrastructure framework. This includes city roads, water supply and sewerage systems, transportation networks, essential amenities, and significant landmarks like the Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, High Court, and government housing.
CIDCO’s expertise in developing self-sustaining cities with advanced physical and social infrastructure was showcased during the visit. The goal was to share best practices and innovative financial models in urban planning to aid in the creation of sustainable urban environments.
