BJP MLA Takes Matters into Own Hands: Ganesh Naik Inaugurates School Amidst Delayed Navi Mumbai Projects

Navi Mumbai, 14th March 2024: The delay in inaugurating or laying the foundation for several infrastructure projects worth over ₹1,200 crore by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has caused frustration among officials. While awaiting the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for these events, BJP MLA Ganesh Naik from Airoli took matters into his own hands by officially opening a school in Digha.

Naik’s action, intended to address the urgent needs of students facing challenges in cramped spaces, sparked controversy, with Shiv Sena workers protesting and some being detained by the police. Defending his decision, Naik emphasized the necessity for students to have access to better facilities for education.

Responding to Shiv Sena’s objection, Naik expressed his intention to discuss the matter with the Chief Minister to secure his availability for inaugurating the pending projects.

Among the projects awaiting inauguration are a fire station in Airoli, schools in Ghansoli, Belapur, and Digha, a library at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium, and various others. Additionally, projects like the Ghansoli-Airoli creek bridge and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak at Airoli await their groundbreaking ceremonies.

The NMMC has also received funds under the Amrit 2.0 scheme for water supply projects in Belapur and plans for a gravitation-based water filtration project at Bhokarpada.

Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar assured that efforts are being made to coordinate with the Chief Minister’s office for the necessary approvals, with hopes of conducting the inaugurations as soon as possible.
