BPCL sponsors the 16th edition of BAJA SAEINDIA event in India

Indore/Mumbai, February 15, 2023: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ & a Fortune Global 500 Company, today announced its sponsorship for the 16th edition of BAJA SAEINDIA 2023 event to be held from 15th Feb to 18th Feb, 2023 at Natrix, Madhya Pradesh.

BAJA SAE is a competition organized globally by the Society of Automotive Engineers, USA simulating real world engineering design projects and its related challenges for the undergraduate engineering students. Over 15 editions, the competition has engaged thousands of students and professionals from the engineering community.

The 16th edition with its strategies revamped, redefines the definition of competitive motorsports.

This year as well BAJA SAEINDIA will be conducting the event in two categories mBAJA for Motorist vehicle in Peethampur and EBaja for electric Charging vehicle in Punjab. Both the events, are expected to witness a total participation from 195 teams and over 6000 budding engineers from colleges across India with 20% of participation coming in from women engineers.

The objective of the competition is to provide students with a challenging project that involves designing, planning and manufacturing tasks while introducing a new product to the consumer market. In a series of events, teams will construct and validate single seater and four-wheeled off-road vehicles. The vehicles will not only be tested for their ability to endure back-breaking durability, undertand the sound engineering principles that went into it, and agility in terms of gradeability, acceleration, and manoeuvrability, but also for their capacity to raise funds for their project and manage their academic priorities.

Since inception, BPCL has been a major partner in organizing BAJA SAEINDIA to promote BPCL’s premium fuel “Speed”. Speed is a premium fuel that keeps vehicle’s engine clean which in turn maximizes its power and makes the journey truly comfortable. Speed also remarkably lowers vehicular emissions, ensuring reliable engine performance and a smoother drive.
