Cement Container Accident On Thane Belapur Marg Leaves Several Vehicles Damaged And One Injured
Navi Mumbai, 7th July 2023: Earlier in the day, on July 7, a severe accident occurred on the Rabale Under bypass of Thane Belapur Marg, resulting in significant damage to several vehicles. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but one female passenger sustained minor injuries in this accident.
The incident took place when a cement-carrying container going from Navsari to Mulund experienced a brake failure around 12:30 a.m. in the night. while ascending the underpass ramp. Due to the failure of the brakes on the slope, the container began hurtling downhill at a very high speed. Showing his alertness, the driver loaded the container onto the footpath. However, due to the container’s high speed, the driver lost control, leading to a collision with five cars and a rickshaw that were standing on the road, resulting in a major accident.
The vehicles involved in the collision included a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, a Honda City, and a Mahindra XUV, along with a mini Tempo and a rickshaw. The impact of the accident inflicted significant damage on these vehicles, causing substantial losses for their owners. The rickshaw, in particular, was overturned, leaving one female passenger in it with minor injuries.
Sanjay Bende, the Senior Police Inspector of the Traffic Department, informed that during the rescue operation to extract the injured woman from the rickshaw, one policeman also sustained injuries. Thankfully, there were no fatalities reported in this accident. Immediate police and traffic personnel responses ensured that the incident did not result in prolonged traffic congestion on the road.
