Civic Hospital Near JNPT Faces Severe Leaks; Patients Suffer Due To Maladministration

Navi Mumbai, 15th July 2023: The civic hospital situated in the labour colony of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) is experiencing severe leaks caused by the ongoing monsoon rains. The deplorable condition of the hospital has deteriorated to such an extent that buckets have been placed under the leaking roof to collect the water, highlighting the alarming state of mismanagement. Regrettably, this negligence is leading to immense suffering for the patients in need of medical care.
A two-storey hospital located in the labour colony of JNPT Port serves as a lifeline for countless workers and their families residing in the area. This hospital, specifically designed to cater to the healthcare needs of port workers and their family members, also offers crucial trauma care services for individuals who have fallen victim to accidents or injuries while working in the port.
However, for several years, the hospital has been plagued by a persistent issue—a leaking roof during the monsoon season. Despite considerable financial resources being allocated for the repair and maintenance of the hospital, the problem remains unsolved. This recurring annual leak poses a serious threat to the structural integrity of the roof, with some workers expressing genuine concerns about a potential collapse if the issue remains unaddressed.
Given the gravity of the situation, the hospital staff is demanding an immediate renovation to rectify the leaky roof. The staff insists that a renovation of the hospital’s infrastructure is essential to ensuring the well-being and safety of both patients and medical personnel.
