Construction Progressing at a Rapid Pace for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train

Mumbai, 12th June 2023: The construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is making significant progress in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Recently, an agreement was signed for the construction of India’s first undersea marine railway line in Thane Bay. In Ahmedabad, the work on the 342-kilometre viaduct is also advancing rapidly.

According to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL), a substantial portion of the viaduct work has been completed. Out of the 342 km mainline viaduct, 298 km of piles, 200 km of piers, and 64 km of viaduct girders have already been finished. NHSRCL has confirmed that the remaining work is also progressing swiftly.

Meanwhile, the construction process in Maharashtra is also underway. Recently, the tender process for the 21-kilometre-long subway was completed, with Afcons Infrastructure Limited being awarded the contract. The subway line will include a 7-kilometre marine subway railway in Thane Bay. To accomplish this, three tunnel boring machines and the New Austrian tunnelling method will be employed.

For the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Railway Station (MAHSR), the Package C1 Contract was signed in March 2023.

On June 8, a contract was signed for MAHSR Package C2, which entails constructing approximately 21 km of double-track tunnel between Mumbai HSR station and Shilphata. Technical tenders were invited on April 12, 2023, for MAHSR Package C3, involving the construction of stations at Thane, Virar, and Boisar, located on the Gujarat-Maharashtra border between Shilphata and Zaroli villages.
