CSMT–Wadala Road Local Services Suspended Amid Heavy Rains In Mumbai

Mumbai, 26th May 2025: Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs from Sunday (25th May) night, severely disrupting local train services, especially on the Central Railway. On Monday (26th May) morning, the CSMT–Wadala Road local services were suspended due to excessive waterlogging on the tracks at Masjid station, causing major inconvenience to commuters.
The Central Railway confirmed the suspension and noted that tracks at Masjid, Byculla, Dadar, Matunga, and Badlapur were waterlogged by around 9 am, leading to slow movement of trains. The Harbour Line and Main Line services are also running at a snail’s pace, with both up and down trains delayed, affecting peak hour traffic across the city.
The intense rainfall, which began on Sunday evening, continued into the early hours of Monday, catching many office-goers off-guard and creating significant disruptions in the daily commute. Low visibility due to the rain further slowed down train operations in the morning.
According to officials, Thane district, including Mumbai city and the suburban areas, recorded heavy rainfall overnight. Local train services, considered the lifeline of Mumbai, faced widespread delays, with passengers experiencing long wait times and crowded platforms.
While no casualties or accidents were reported, the situation has led to increased concern among citizens and authorities alike. Railway officials have advised passengers to check live updates before traveling and avoid non-essential journeys during continued rainfall.
Authorities are monitoring the weather and track conditions closely. Restoration of the suspended CSMT–Wadala Road services will depend on the water receding from the affected areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued rainfall in the region over the next 24 hours.
