Cyber Scammers Swindle Navi Mumbai Builder of Rs 13.5 Crore in Share Trading Fraud

Navi Mumbai, 14th August 2024: A Navi Mumbai builder has reportedly been defrauded of over Rs. 13.5 crore by cyber scammers who deceived him under the guise of share trading, according to police reports from Tuesday.
The builder claimed that he was approached by the scammers through various channels and persuaded to invest in share trading. Over the past eight months, he transferred substantial amounts of money to multiple bank accounts, as stated by Senior Inspector Gajanan Kadam from the Cyber Police Station.
Despite investing more than Rs 13.5 crore, the builder did not receive any returns on his investment and the scammers ceased communication when he sought repayment.
Following the complaint, a case has been filed at the Cyber Police Station under sections 319(2) (cheating by personation) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
