Drunk Man Vandalizes BEST Bus, Beats Up Driver And Police

Mumbai, 22nd March 2023: A drunk man vandalized a BEST bus at Cuffe Parade on Tuesday. The accused also beat up the bus driver and the police constable who arrested him for vandalizing the bus. The accused was arrested by Cuffe Parade police for vandalizing the bus and obstructing government work. Earlier, a case was registered against the accused for the consumption of narcotic drugs.

Police Constable Vinayak Jaykar (40), posted at Cuffe Parade Police Station, was patrolling the area. At that time, Jaykar noticed that the accused, Asif Hameed Shaikh, had broken the front glass and wiper of the BEST bus going from Nagar to CST. There was a traffic jam due to the accused blocking the bus. He also beat the bus driver Hemant Kadam who questioned him. Seeing this, Jaykar went there. At that time, the accused also ran over them. The accused also beat them. The accused tore Jaykar’s uniform. After this incident, Cuffe Parade Police arrested him for obstructing government work.

Earlier, the accused was arrested for consuming drugs. After the incident, BEST employee Kadam and police constable Jaykar were treated at GT Hospital. The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case was registered against him.
