Heat Wave Grips Thane and Surrounding Areas as Temperature Crosses 40 Degrees Celsius Mark

Mumbai, 19th April 2023: On Tuesday, a severe heat wave swept across Thane and surrounding areas as temperatures soared to over 40 degrees Celsius in most places. Murbad in Thane recorded the highest temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, followed by Dhaisar at 43 degrees Celsius. The heat wave has been building up for the past few days and reached a new high on Tuesday, causing discomfort to residents.

According to Abhijit Modak, the hottest day of the year was recorded on Tuesday, with temperatures in various parts of the state exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. In Thane district, Kasarvadvali and Kalyan towns recorded 42.8 degrees Celsius, while Badlapur and Dombivali recorded 42.6 degrees Celsius. Cities such as Mumbra, Navi Mumbai, and Thane also experienced high temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.

The heat wave has caused significant discomfort to residents, with many experiencing heat exhaustion and dehydration. The coastal temperature of Mumbai was at 37 degrees Celsius, and the heat wave has been attributed to hot winds blowing in from the sea. The temperature has also crossed the 40-degree mark in Vidarbha, Beed, Parbhani in Marathwada, and Jalgaon and Solapur in Madhya Maharashtra.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay indoors during the hottest part of the day. The weather department has also issued a warning of a heat wave in some parts of the state in the coming days.
