Heavy Damage To Six Houses After Felling Of Gulmohar Tree Near Thana College; Three People Injured In The Incident

Thane, 3rd August 2023: On Wednesday morning, a massive Gulmohar tree located within the premises of Thana College fell down on six neighbouring houses in the Gujarati Balwadi Chawl area. The unfortunate incident occurred just after the receding rains, at approximately seven o’clock, leaving the entire community in shock.
The fallen tree resulted in injuries to three individuals identified as Rahul Ravi Valodra (22), Ishwar Shankar Solanki (30), and Bharti Ravi Valodra (44). Luckily, no one has died in this tragic incident.
However, the impact of the tree’s fall was severe, causing extensive damage to six houses in the area. The Disaster Management Unit revealed that this was the second tree to fall on the premises of Thana College within a span of fifteen days, raising concerns about the safety of the area.
After the incident, Naresh Solanki, a resident of the area, immediately reported the incident to the Disaster Management Unit of the Thane Municipal Corporation. Upon receiving the information, Talathi Ratnadeep Kamble and the teams from the Disaster Management Cell, Tree Authority, and Fire Brigade promptly rushed to the scene to assess the situation.
In this incident, three people suffered minor injuries, and the roofs of six houses were slightly damaged. Furthermore, officials of the disaster management room informed that the fallen tree has been cut down and moved safely aside.
