IMD predicts heavy rains in Mumbai and suburbs in the next 48 hours
Mumbai, 12th June 2021: The Regional Meteorological Center in Mumbai has forecast moderate to heavy rains in Mumbai and its suburbs in the next 48 hours. Also, heavy rains have been warned for the next five days along the Konkan coast, including Mumbai. The department also Suggest to citizens to avoid going near the beach in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the suburbs, including Mumbai, have been receiving heavy rains since last night. Extreme levels of rainfall are also expected in Mumbai and the Konkan coast. It has been raining in Andheri, Dadar, Sion, Kurla, Paral, Kurla and other western suburbs of Mumbai since this morning. Waterlogging on roads in many parts of the state is causing problems for motorists.
Due to the pre-monsoon showers and the onset of monsoon in Mumbai two days ahead of schedule, the rainfall in Mumbai exceeded the average in the first 10 days of June this year. According to the meteorological department, the average rainfall in the Mumbai suburbs is 505 mm for the entire month of June; however, this year from June 1 to 11, from 8.30 am, 534.3 mm of rain was recorded in the suburbs.
