Maj Gen Giriraj Singh Appointed Dean of AFMC Pune

Pune, 9th March 2024: Major General Giriraj Singh, assumed the appointment of Dean and Deputy Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune on 04 February 2024. An alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College the General Officer was commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces in 1989. He is an MD and DNB in Radiodiagnosis and has a Fellowship in Cross-sectional Imaging, from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The General Officer has an exemplary record in various academic and military courses and has vast clinical, research and administrative experience. Having the distinction of serving as a radiologist across various hospitals of the Indian Army including the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL), he went on to tenate coveted appointments including that of the Head of Department and Consultant (Radiology) at Army Hospital (Research & Referral) and as Brigadier Administration at Command Hospital, Chandimandir.

An author of numerous research articles in national and international medical journals, he has also contributed chapters in books on medical imaging. A postgraduate examiner for numerous universities all over the country, he is also the National Co-ordinator for “Teacher’s Wing” of Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) and a Member of the Specialist Board (Radio-diagnosis) at National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi.

An avid adventurer, the General Officer is a qualified instructor in Hot Air Ballooning.

In recognition of his meritorious service, he was awarded the Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation in the year 2011.

Prior to the present appointment the General Officer was commanding Military Hospital, Agra.
