Mumbai Airport to Close for Six Hours on May 9 for Pre-Monsoon Preparations

Mumbai, 15th April 2024: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will close for six hours on May 9 for pre-monsoon preparations, according to a statement from Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) on Monday, April 15.

Both runways at Mumbai Airport will be temporarily closed for maintenance and repairs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (IST). Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for any changes to their scheduled flights.

A post on social media stated, “On May 9, both runways at #MumbaiAirport will be closed temporarily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for pre-monsoon maintenance and repairs. Passengers should contact their airlines for flight schedule updates.”

The CSMIA noted that the temporary runway closure is an annual practice, ensuring operational continuity and passenger safety. Passengers are encouraged to verify their flight schedules for May 9, 2024. The airport has also issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to coordinate flight schedules and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
