Mumbai: Bomb Threat Email Triggers Security Alert at Bombay High Court, Other Mumbai Courts
Mumbai, 18th December 2025: A bomb threat email warning of explosions at the Bombay High Court and other courts across Mumbai prompted an immediate security response, leading to evacuations and intensive searches of judicial premises by Mumbai Police.
According to police officials, the threatening message was received through an official communication channel of the Bombay High Court. The email claimed that the High Court, along with multiple courts in the city, would be targeted. The information was promptly conveyed to the Mumbai Police control room, following which emergency security protocols were activated.
As a precautionary measure, the Bombay High Court building was evacuated, and bomb detection and disposal squads were deployed to carry out detailed searches of the premises. Police officials confirmed that no explosive material or suspicious objects were found during the operation.
The email reportedly made specific references to Fort (Killa) Court and Bandra Court, leading authorities to strengthen security and conduct additional checks at these locations. Security arrangements at court complexes across Mumbai have since been heightened.
Senior police officials said investigations are underway to trace the source of the email and identify those responsible. While the threat appears to be non-credible at this stage, authorities stated that all standard safety procedures were followed to ensure public security.
Earlier this month, a private school in the Mira Road area had also received a bomb threat email. Bomb disposal teams conducted a thorough search of the school premises, but no suspicious material was found.
Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to remain calm and assured that strict security measures are in place at all judicial institutions across the city.
