Mumbai: Borivali Police Nab Three Suspects For Fake Garba Pass Operation

Borivali, 20th October 2023: Cloning duplicate Garba passes proved to be a costly mistake for three individuals who were apprehended by the Borivali police on Thursday. They had created fake passes in an attempt to gain entry to the Dandiya event organised by BJP MLA Praveen Darekar. The Borivali police took swift action against the trio, and they are currently in police custody.
The individuals responsible for this fraudulent act, namely Sanjay Jala, Arpit Patadia, and Girish Solanki, were caught when they attempted to attend Rangras with Bhumi Trivedi Navratri 2023. However, their forged passes were detected at the entry point by Kunal Turkia, the event manager of the programme, organised by BJP MLA Praveen Darekar and two of his associates.
Suspecting the authenticity of their passes, Turkia carefully examined them and subsequently discovered that the passes were counterfeit. Without delay, he handed all three of the accused individuals over to the on-site police inspector, Jadhav. Jadhav and his team proceeded to question them about the passes, but they couldn’t provide satisfactory explanations. As a result, the Borivali police arrested them.
The police filed a complaint against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (providing false information with the intent to deceive), 471 (unlawfully using forged documents), and 34 (acting with a common purpose). Notably, a few days prior, the city police had already come across similar incidents involving counterfeit Garba passes.
