Mumbai Customs Seizes Over 9 Kg Gold Worth Rs. 5.71 Cr in Airport Smuggling Crackdown

Mumbai, 19th April 2024: In a series of operations conducted between April 15th and 18th, 2024, the Airport Commissionerate of Mumbai Customs Zone-III made significant seizures of gold, totaling over 9.482 kilograms valued at approximately Rs. 5.71 crore. This valuable contraband was discovered across 14 separate cases, with the gold found concealed in various ways including hidden in passengers’ rectums, on their bodies, in handbags, and within cavities in undergarments. As a result of these operations, eight individuals were arrested in connection with these smuggling attempts. These seizures highlight the ongoing efforts of authorities to combat illegal activities and maintain security at the Mumbai airport.
