Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates ‘Light and Sound Show’ at Tilak Udyan

Mumbai, 19th January 2024: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the much-anticipated ‘Light and Sound Show’ located in Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak Udyan at Swarajyabhumi (Girgaon Chowpatty), Mumbai. The project, implemented by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) D Division, offers an immersive experience through projection mapping on various topics, including the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, scenes from Ramayana, the biography of Lokmanya Tilak, and a glimpse of the city of Mumbai.

The inauguration ceremony, held on January 18, 2024, also marked the opening of the Glow Park, adding to the attractions at the site. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commended the beautification work undertaken by BMC and expressed his optimism about future light and sound show projections based on various themes and notable personalities.

Present at the inauguration were Maharashtra Minister of Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Marathi Language of Maharashtra Deepak Kesarkar, along with other dignitaries.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis acknowledged the continuous efforts of Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha in enhancing the beauty of Swarajya Bhoomi and providing improved facilities to citizens. He also praised Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar for his contributions to the beautification project.

Tilak Udyan, home to the memorial and full-length statue of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, has been developed into a park. The light and sound show, featuring projection mapping on a replica of Raigad Fort, aims to provide a unique and informative experience to visitors. The films showcased during the projection mapping will last for 8 minutes each, accompanied by synchronized sound, creating a captivating atmosphere for both citizens and tourists.

Projection mapping films are scheduled to be presented on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, Independence Day, and Republic Day, from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Additionally, the beautification of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak Park, featuring pathways, greenery, ornamental flowering plants, electrification, heritage railings, and attractive seating arrangements, has been completed by BMC’s D Department. The Glow Park, designed to be a highlight for children, was also inaugurated, adding to the overall charm of the Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak Udyan.
