Mumbai: Drunken railway employee causes traffic chaos at Wangani station

Mumbai, 2nd April 2023: On Friday evening, the railway gate connecting the east-west area near Wangani station on the Central Railway was closed but remained shut for an unusually long time, causing severe inconvenience to motorists on both sides.

The situation was exacerbated when an ambulance was also stuck in the traffic jam that ensued. Upon investigation, it was found that the employee on duty was in a drunken state and sleeping, leading to the delay in opening the gate.

The incident has drawn widespread criticism, with angry motorists reaching the employee’s office to voice their concerns. Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Shivaji Sutar, has assured the public that appropriate action will be taken to address the situation.
