Mumbai: Fatal Mishap in Malad West: Two Individuals Lose Lives in Underground Sewer

Mumbai, 22nd March 2024: In a recent incident in Mumbai, three individuals tragically fell into an underground sewer connected to a public toilet in Malad West. Regrettably, two individuals, identified as Suraj Kevat and Bikas Kevat (both 20 years old), lost their lives, while one person, Ramlagan Kevat (45 years old), sustained critical injuries. The BMC’s Mumbai Fire Brigade promptly responded to the situation.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the incident unfolded at Malvani gate number 8, situated along Abdul Hameed Road in Ambujwadi. According to an official report, the individuals fell into a chamber of the underground drain sewer, which is approximately 15 feet below the surface and maintained by a private contractor responsible for the public toilet. Passersby acted swiftly to rescue them and rushed them to a nearby hospital, including Ramlagan Kevat, who was taken to BDBA Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Senior Inspector Chimaji Adhav of the Malvani police station confirmed that an accidental death report has been filed, and further investigations are underway. Further details regarding the incident are anticipated.
