Mumbai: Functionaries Of Lalbaugh Cha Raja Face Accusations Of Disrespecting Chhatrapati Shivaji’s Legacy; Maratha Kranti Mahamorcha Demands Stricter Action

Lalbaug, 19th September 2023: In Maharashtra, a new controversy erupted after Maratha Kranti Mahamorcha alleged that the Lalbaugh cha Raja Mitra Madal in Mumbai insulted the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s royal seal, popularly called ‘Rajmudra’, by placing it at the feet of Ganesh idol. In this case, the Sakal Maratha Samaj has written to Mumbai police seeking a case against the functionaries of the Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal for allegedly disrespecting the sentiments of followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

During the decoration and installation of the Ganesh idol, the famous Lalbaug Cha Raja Mitra Mandal placed the royal seal of Shivaji Maharaj on the feet of the Ganesh idol. After much uproar has surged on this issue, Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati has reacted to the issue. He was speaking in response to the media on Sunday (September 17).

Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati said, “I heard about what the Lalbaugh cha Raja Mitra Mandal did this morning. However, according to my knowledge, they have rectified their mistake. and if that is the case, I think let’s not drag this matter further.” He further advised that such nuances need to be observed at all times with such a large board. “Don’t do anything that can hurt the sentiments of people,” he added.

Amol Jadhavarao of the Maratha Kranti Mahamorcha said in a statement to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, “We Shivaji Maharaj followers do not understand what the exact intention of the board was behind placing the royal image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the feet of Lal Baugh cha Raja. But they have insulted the entire Shiv followers through this act.”

He added, “Though the King of Lalbaugh (Ganpati Bappa) is a god, today the gods are in temple because of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is not acceptable to have this royal seal on the feet. It is regrettable that the seal of our Swarajya should be put on the head, but it is being seen on the feet.” He requested that the Mumbai Police Commissioner confirm the matter and file a case against the functionaries of the Lalbaug Cha Raja Mitra Mandal.
