Mumbai: Luxury Cars Crash into Cab While Allegedly Racing on Bandra-Worli Sea Link
Mumbai, 16th September 2024: Two high-speed luxury cars, a Mercedes and a BMW, collided with a cab while allegedly racing on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. The crash occurred early Sunday morning and caused a traffic jam on the fifth-longest bridge in the country.
The incident happened around 10:20 AM when the two cars lost control and struck the Wagon R cab from behind, causing it to overturn. The cab was carrying a family of four, including a 10-year-old child. Fortunately, no one in the cab sustained serious injuries, according to the police.
The speed limit on the Sea Link is 80 km/h. Both drivers, Tariq Chaudhary and Sehbaz Khan, have been arrested and charged with attempted culpable homicide and reckless driving. Visuals from the scene show significant damage to both luxury vehicles: the Mercedes had a crumpled bonnet, while the BMW sustained damage to its rear. The cars were registered with separate private companies.
This incident follows a fatal accident last November on the same bridge, where a speeding SUV, a Toyota Innova, crashed into a Mercedes and collided with several other vehicles while trying to flee.
