Mumbai: Minor Girl Dies By Suicide After Being Sexually Assaulted By Cousin
Mumbai, 14th March 2023: According to police reports on Tuesday, a 15-year-old girl killed herself on Friday after being regularly sexually assaulted by her cousin brother.
The suspect, the victim’s cousin brother, has reportedly been arrested by the Vinoba Bhave Nagar (VB Nagar) Police for alleged sexual harassment and aiding in suicide. The detectives will question him further to see whether he also molested the victim.
The deceased girl lived with her parents, younger sister, and brother, according to the authorities. The girl’s siblings were playing outside their home on March 10 as her parents went to the doctor. When her parents got home at 1:30 p.m., they discovered that their older daughter (the victim) was not answering the door when the kids knocked. The girl was discovered hanging from the ceiling after the door had been forced open.
The young woman was taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. She died from asphyxia, according to the results of the postmortem. The police searched her home and discovered a suicide note the child had written in one of her notebooks.
She explained in the Marathi note that her cousin brother had terrible intentions for her. Additionally, he is accused of touching her inappropriately numerous times when no one was looking.
According to the note, police detained the deceased’s cousin, aged 21. He was charged with violating sections 354 (molestation) and 306 of the POCSO Act (abetment of suicide). He appeared in court on Monday and was ordered to be held in police custody, according to the police.
