Mumbai: MMRDA to conduct geotechnical study for Versova-Virar Sea Bridge project

Mumbai, 20th April 2023: Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has recently issued a tender to appoint a consultant for the geotechnical study of the Versova-Virar Sea Bridge project. The study is a crucial aspect of the project and will help determine the depth of foundation required for the construction of the bridge.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) had initially planned to build the bridge to reduce travel time and decongest the Western Expressway. However, due to financial reasons, the project was handed over to MMRDA.

The MMRDA aims to complete the project within 40-45 minutes and to extend it to Palghar. After the completion of the geotechnical study, a detailed project plan will be prepared, which is expected to take another one to one-and-a-half years to complete.

The Versova-Virar Sea Bridge project is a significant infrastructure project in Mumbai, and the geotechnical study is a crucial step towards its implementation.
