Mumbai: Mumbai Fire Brigade Plans To Introduce Two More Advanced Firefighting Robots In Its Fleet

Mumbai, 29th July 2023: Mumbai’s Fire Brigade team is set to introduce two more fire robots to its team to combat challenging rescue operations. With the aim of enhancing response mechanisms during difficult and high-risk situations where human intervention is difficult, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has approved a substantial budget of seven and a half crore rupees for this ambitious project. According to the information, these artificial robots will be strategically deployed across the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai.
As the city of Mumbai experiences rapid urbanisation and expansion, its developmental needs are growing simultaneously. The construction of numerous multi-story buildings equipped with multi-story car parking facilities has become common. However, a significant concern arises when fire emergencies occur in the basement of these structures, making it challenging for firefighting personnel to access and control the blaze due to limited space.
Additionally, critical industrial locations like Petrochemical factories and the Atomic Energy Research Centre, where fires can attain their most disastrous form, pose the challenge of risking personnel’s lives in such incidents. In such instances, the implementation of these remote-controlled fire robots proves to be a wiser and safer alternative to effectively extinguishing the fire.
Furthermore, these robots will play a crucial role in responding to fires in old and dilapidated buildings, as well as incidents along the seacoast and within the intricate network of metro tunnels. With all these concerns taken into consideration, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation emphasises the utilisation of these advanced robots in similar scenarios to execute firefighting operations with utmost efficiency and safety.
