Mumbai: Mumbai Police Arrest Fraudster Impersonating Spy Agent, Dupes Santacruz Businessman Of 4 Crore Rupees

Santacruz, 22nd July 2023: The Financial Offences Wing of Mumbai Police arrested a person accused of perpetrating a massive fraud by posing as a spy agent and swindling people. The arrest came after a Santacruz based businessman filed a complaint against the accused person at the police station.

Identified as Aditya Ashok Jogani, alias Ajay Dave, a resident of Malabar Hill, the accused purportedly deceived a businessman of approximately 4 crore rupees. The accused impersonated a spy agent of the Central Intelligence Agency and deceitfully claimed to have close ties with senior BJP leaders in Delhi.

Over the course of four years, from 2018 to 2022, the accused allegedly manipulated his victim by falsely promising to use his political influence for the businessman’s benefit. The promises included facilitating tenders, securing coveted college admissions for his children, and other favours that enticed the trust of businessmen.

Trusting his word, the businessman parted with substantial sums of money, hoping for the promised outcomes. However, to his dismay, none of the said promises were fulfilled. Despite persistent attempts to recover his money over several months, the victim finally registered a complaint with the Santacruz police station.

After a case was registered at the Santacruz police station, the investigation was handed over to the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police. Under the guidance of senior officers, the team arrested accused Ajay Dave from BKC on Wednesday.
