Mumbai: Night Megablock in Panvel for Freight Corridor Work to Continue Until October 2
Panvel, 10th September 2023: Commuters traveling on the Mumbai-Harbour route will need to make adjustments to their schedules as a night megablock has been extended until October 2 to facilitate the dedicated freight corridor work at Panvel station. This extended block will affect certain late-night local services on the Harbor route, leading to short terminations.
The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation Limited is spearheading the project to establish a rail line for freight transportation from Dadri in Greater Noida to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai. As part of this project, two new tracks are slated to pass through the Panvel station yard, necessitating modifications to the Panvel EMU suburban stabling lines. Consequently, a nightly block lasting three to four hours has been in effect since August 18, 2023, to facilitate these modifications. This work is anticipated to span approximately 45 days, with completion expected around October 2.
To accommodate this project, a significant change will be implemented in the local transportation schedule, starting on September 11, from 12:30 pm to 5:30 am.
