Mumbai: Petition Claiming Kanjurmarg Land Withdrawn
Mumbai, 9th August 2022: Developer Garodia has finally withdrawn the petition from the City Civil Court claiming the site of the proposed metro car shed at Kanjurmarg. Garodia had filed a petition claiming the Kanjurmarg site belonging to Mithagar, stating that the state government and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had begun work in the area illegally. Private developer Garodia had filed a petition in the City Civil Court in November 2020.
The car shed of ‘Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3’ has been shifted from Aarey Colony to Kanjurmarg. After the relocation of the car shed was announced, controversy erupted. Garodia, a private developer, filed a petition in the City Civil Court in November 2020, alleging that the land was illegally occupied by the government and MMRDA.
On the other hand, the Central Government filed a petition in the High Court claiming that the place belonged to the Centre. Garodia also filed a suit in the High Court on the background of the petition in the City Civil Court. While the Kanjurmarg case is sub judice, Garodia has withdrawn his main plea from the City Civil Court. According to the Aarey Conservation Group, the petition was withdrawn on July 13.
