Mumbai: Police Apprehend Person Behind Bogus Terrorist Threat Report

Santacruz, 2nd September 2023: A crime branch team has arrested a person from the Santacruz area over an allegation of giving false information about a terrorist attack on the Taj Hotel and misleading the police. The accused’s name is Jagdamba Prasad Singh, and he is a cook by profession.
Singh lives in the Santacruz (West) area. A few days ago, Singh informed the local police control room over the telephone that he had seen a message on social media that some Pakistani terrorists who had come to India from the sea were going to attack Hotel Taj like that of the 26/11. He informed that the post was in Urdu, and he saw it on Facebook.
Taking note of Singh’s tip, security agencies have increased security around Hotel Taj and reviewed it thoroughly, but they could not find any suspicious activity. The police’s suspension grew when they attempted to contact the caller following the investigation; Singh appeared to be avoiding their calls.
The police of Room 9 of the Crime Branch have started a parallel investigation in this case under the guidance of in-charge police inspector Daya Nayak. After the interrogation, it was revealed that Singh falsely registered a report.
The police have arrested the accused in this case, and they registered a complaint against him under Section 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code in Santacruz Police Station. The Santacruz police are investigating further in this matter.
